Newt Supports Ken Blackwell

Here in Ohio we have an upcoming election for Governor.The GOP candidate is current Ohio Sec. of State Ken Blackwell. The Democratic candidate is Congressman Ted Strickland. Blackwell has been campaigning on a platform of lower taxes, reducing government spending, and educational choice. This past April, Newt Gingrich gave his endorsement to Ken Blackwell. Newt compared Blackwell to Ronald Reagan and spoke highly of Blackwell being a person of "new ideas and new strategies" . The Ohio Secretary of State called Newt "a true hero of the conservative movement".
Unfortunately, heading into autumn, this election is becoming a battle for Ken Blackwell. The Democrats have been somewhat successful in connecting him to the administration of the embattled outgoing governor Bob Taft. Like Newt though, Blackwell is a fighter. He is a man of principle whose ideas and convictions echo those of Newt's. I am sure that these characteristics and ideas will win over the voters of Ohio (especially when they see and hear Ken at more rallies and in upcoming debates with Strickland). I am very positive and optimistic Ohio will have a "Newt Gingrich Republican" governor this November.
