What follows are some interesting observations from the blogger rolls on the Thurday night Debate between the announced GOP candidates. Each blog name is a link to the blog post about the debate.
I confess, I did not blog or watch the debate tonight simply because I found the prospect of it overwhelmingly boring. Now if Fred Thompson or Newt Gingrich had been there, I would have been there.
What is odd about the unwillingness of the GOP candidates to go after one-another is that Republicans are unhappy with their candidates currently, which means that giants can and will fall. The top tier – Giuliani, McCain, and Romney – may be reticent to go after each other because if opens a bigger hole for a Fred Thompson or Newt Gingrich to fill.
I watched the Republican Presidential Candidates Debate broadcast live from the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif., and was left thinking Newt Gingrich and Fred Thompson came away clear winners.
That’s right! Gingrich, the former Speaker of the House, and Thompson, the Law and Order star and former U.S. senator from Tennessee, can declare victory simply because both were smart enough to skip the event...
Among the top tier candidates, I think McCain was surprisingly good. And Rudy, the frontrunner, was the big loser because of the abortion issue. And no matter how much I like much of what Ron Paul and Tom Tancredo had to say on the issues, they still came across as a couple of jokers who have no business being up there.
So who won? Newt Gingrich and Fred Thompson both won.

Earlier today, I speculated that Fred Thompson and Newt Gingrich’s chances could be harmed if Romney gave a strong performance. Romney did indeed deliver a strong performance, but it wasn’t enough to harm any of the candidates who might enter the race in the future.

Anyone else notice Newt Gingrich and Fred Thompson appearing together pretty much every time one of them is mentioned?

Fred Thompson as your vice.
You are light years ahead of Rudy and Mitt. If Fred won't be your vice, then get Hunter or Huckabee. Hunter is my first choice.
