Newt Polls Well With Iowa Republicans who want more choices

Placing a mere 2 points behind Condeeleza "I'm not a candidate" Rice, former speaker Newt Gingrich recieved support from 48% of 401 registered Republicans in Iowa who say they would welcome his candidacy if he chooses to enter the race.

The poll, conducted by the Des Moines Register, presented a list of unannounced candidates to choose between. Former Senator Fred Thompson trailed Newt by three points and finished with 45% of the registered voters giving him the nod.
