Newt Gingrich will “absolutely” jump into the presidential campaign this autumn, and “will suck out all the oxygen” by dominating the media coverage. Keep your eyes on former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson, who could be a “serious player.” And the Democratic candidate the Republicans should fear most isn’t the experienced Hillary Clinton but the charismatic Barack Obama.
So, at least, says Mark McKinnon. And he ought to know. He was a top member of the incredible Bush machine in 2000 and 2004, and he’s one of the sharpest political operatives in the country.
