Fixing Dysfunction Government

Speaking on Fox News Sunday to Chris Wallace and to Sean Hannity today, Newt Gingrich took the Bush Administration and the government to task over its obvious incompetence. Gingrich emphasized the entry of a man with TB through the border who was listed in the Border Patrol's computer database as a threat who should be denied entry and only dealt with by someone wearing a HAZMAT suit.

Newt believes that government needs fundamental change to meet the challenges and threats facing America today. He also believes he has an obligation as a citizen to care about the conservative movement and Republican party to highlight the problems in government and find ways to fix them.

Mr. Gingrich also harshly criticized the immigration compromise which could devastate the Republican Party and leave America more vulnerable to foreign threats. Gingrich is also scheduled to speak at the American Enterprise Institute this Friday where he will outline a broader vision for America's future and the changes that are so necessary to make government effective.

Mr. Gingrich,
To give you some background, I originally came from the UK in 1987 after being born and living there for forty years. I obtained my US citizenship four years ago.(An experience that I found somewhat disappointing, but that is a subject for another day). I have always believed in voting. If you do not vote, you have no right to complain. However, I do understand where many possible American voters feel that they have no influence on what goes on in Washington D.C. Perception is that many of our representatives live in the Washington D.C. bubble. They know how to work the governmental system but do not speak for Mr. and Mrs. Average American. I agree that the two parties are too polarized but that also most of the time are not too far apart, except that they are not listening or understanding the general populace. How can they be expected to understand Mr. and Mrs. Middle America when politicians live such elevated lives, having to rely on on special interest groups for funding and support. No wonder prospective voters feel they have no voice and are not listened to.

When I travel to Washington D.C., I listen to conversations in restaurants and shake my head in wonder. These people live in a bubble that does not extend far enough into the heartland of America.

I love America for it's diversity. I travel the country and I am continually amazed at the difference of the people in Florida, Texas, California, the North East and Mid-West (To name but a few). These differences are healthy but politicians are only speaking to and for these people when they need to be elected/re-elected.

Mr. Speaker I have not always agreed with your sentiments or your politics. I guess I am more of a democrat than a republican, however listening to you lately I do agree with your line of thought that the government in Washington D.C. is disfunctional. And that is the way it appears to many of the prospective voting public. How can Joe Public feel this is a democracy when the strength of a candidate is judged on how much money they can raise. Especially when much of this comes from special interest groups.

If you are truly interested in changing the manner in which government operates you will have my vote. I have liked what I have heard from you recently and your rationale' on several matters. We will not always agree but I believe you are looking more to the welfare of the majority as opposed to many other politicians.

if you do not run, I will not vote. I am 29 years old and able to sift thru all the democratic mess, and know that if we do not have someone in power that can take a true stand for the people then this great nation could topple... I respect you for your steadfastness and looking forward to seeing your name on the ballot for 2008... for sure Mitt Romney and Clinton will never receive my vote... they are too politically compromised...

Each time our country has faced a crisis, a great man has been there to lead us. Today that man is Newt Gingrich.

My name is Merritt Farmer. I'm 22 years old and recently graduated from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina. From around November of 2006, when discussions of presidential candidates began, my father and grandfather told me that Speaker Gingrich would be the best man for the job. I did some research on my own to learn about Speaker Gingrich and feel that he is a true conservative who will be a great president and offers solutions for the foreign and domestic issues the U.S. faces. I feel that various other candidates, Republicans and Democrats alike, have continued to deliver party-generated lip sevice that lacks substance and solutions. If we were to put party affiliations aside and focus on the platforms that cadidates offer and deliver, I feel that people all over this nation would see that Speaker Gingrich focuses on issues that directly affect the people of this nation and offers solutions that benefit the nation as a whole. This nation needs Newt!!

Newt, We need you to run for president in 2008. I have been around for many decades living on the East coast, midwest and mostly in the west. I went to college in the South.(Univ of Georgia- Food Science) hardly a political education but after many decades you do have some pretty strong beliefs. Im my industry (Food) I have spent most of my years in the USA but I have worked in Sweden, England, Mexico, Guatamala, Canada, China, Taiwan, and Thailand.
From my background and travels I have appeciated the conservative way of living life and treating people.
Newt you definetly have the most conservative point of view of all the Republican candidates. I have listened to you for over 20 years and know you are the right person for America now. On top of that you are able to out debate most any candidate the opposition can provide. Unfortunately you need to debate in order to win in 2008 but that is where we Americans are lucky we have you!!
It will take all your energy in order to pull this off but believe me we will all appreciate your leadership and it will be so important to America. Can you imagine an America with Hillary or even our economy.
Please help us. If you run I will do whatever my capabilities are to assist you.
Thank you for listening.
