DeLay Proves Newt Right
Tom Delay doesn't really have the legitimacy to speak about how to handle the base of the GOP. He was part of the scandalous image that brought the party out of power this past election cycle. So it doesn't make sense when Delay takes the initiative to insult Newt.
Tom DeLay: Gingrich 'Out of Sync' with Party
"He's not in sync with the base of the party," DeLay charged. "Take his whole American Solutions idea. I'm very skeptical about finding solutions for government. Government is the problem, not the solution."
Newt has been a consistent critic about how politics is communicated to the public: No five-second messaging or sound byte planting. The real message should be about ideas and solutions, not the archetypal conservative-ralling sound bit of "Government is the problem, not the solution." These type of messages don't allow people to actively communicate or bring about necessary change in government. DeLay has unknowingly proved on of Newt's themes.
